Modern interior marketing has spent decades selling synthetic sealants and impervious veneers, promising that a kitchen counter will look precisely the same in thirty years as it did on installation day. But why should a home remain frozen in time?
When we introduce tumbled limestone, unsealed brass fittings, and oiled walnut, we invite the residence to age alongside the family. A water ring on an untreated marble island is not a ruinous flaw; it is a memory of a wine bottle shared with beloved friends on a rainy November night.
Living materials possess an acoustic dampening and thermal warmth that artificial substitutes can never duplicate. They feel warm to bare feet and soft to the hand.
